Bangkok – Chatuchak weekend market
Adults and children buy these high powered water cannon for water fights during Songkran. It is an annual festival which takes place over three days during the traditional Thai New Year, April 13th-15th (in almost all provinces). The official Songkran festival lasts three days but in reality the whole week is taken over by a mass celebration as the whole country shuts down for a momentous water fight.

Devon – Granite Railway
Part of the Haytor Granite tramway, a 16km track built of granite (rather than steel) that used gravity to send 12 carts full of granite at a time from the Haytor granite mine to Teigngrace where it was shipped to London. This trade lasted 20 years from 1820. The granite was used in the building of the London bridge that was subsequently sold to an American 50 years ago. The bridge was reassembled and it now stands at Lake Havasu in Arizona.

Kit Carson’s Beaver skin blanket. Sadly he waged a brutal campaign against the Navajo in 1863. When bands of Navajo refused to accept confinement on reservations, Carson terrorized the Navajo lands–burning crops, destroying villages, and slaughtering livestock. Carson rounded up some 8,000 Navajo and marched them across New Mexico for imprisonment on the Bosque Redondo Reservation, over 300 miles from their homes, where they remained for the duration of the Mexican-American war.

At Pinal Air park there was a demo of the SkyRunner, a flying car, capable of all-terrain driving and actual flight plus gliding with a parasail.
View technical data…
Pinal Air park is a specialised maintenance facility as well as a storage and scrap facility. It has 86 planes in storage at present. This desert climate is ideal for the preservation (or scrapping?) of aircraft. This 747-128 was built in 1976 and entered service with Air-France.in that year. In the mid 1990s it was acquired by TWA . It arrived at the airpark in 1997. TWA no longer exists, it was merged into American Airlines in 2001.

I caught up with two ladies I sat next to during the show, they chose 7 and 89, he guessed both numbers. Two other people have seen the show 14 times and he has never failed at an illusion.

This sign is from the 1955 Moulin Rouge Casino that was open for only 6 months. It was the first casino to allow both black and white patrons. In all other casinos black performers were only allowed on stage and once their act was over they had to leave by the tradesman’s exit. It is thought that the Moulin Rouge was closed from pressure of the other casinos because the friends of the black entertainers would leave the other casinos to go and socialise at the Moulin Rouge thereby taking their trade away from the other casinos. NB This photo was from the web – I could not take my wide angle lens camera into the museum.
